Awarded, paper presented and Conference attended

 

Siddhi Sangle was called as  judge for an elocution competition for higher secondary school students, organized under the initiative Atmanirbhar Bharat Swayampurna Goa in collaboration with InGoa Media and the Film Television Academy. The event was a wonderful platform to witness the talent and enthusiasm of young students. Siddhi Sangle  was also honored with a certificate of appreciation by the organizers.


Ms. Fabiola Rocha, Assistant Professor in English presented a research paper, titled, ' A Tapestry of Themes: Exploring Morality, Supernaturalism, and Cultural Identity in Lucio Rodrigues' The Wise Fools of Moira and Other Goan Folk Tales ' at  A Two -Day National Seminar on ' Deciphering Indian Folk Heritage: Revisiting the Past & Reevaluating the Present to Rethink the Future ' held on 10th & 11th January 2025, organised by the Department of English of Dnyanprassarak Mandal's College and Research Centre, Assagao - Goa .


Ms Siddhi Sangle, Asst Prof of English and Ms Vividha Agarwadekar, Asst Prof of English, attend a One Day Multidisciplinary National Conference on the theme "Digital Dialogues: Social Media and Society organized by the Department of Economics Govemment College, Borda-Margao, Goa(Autonomous) on 11 January 2025 in the seminar hall of the Borda college.

Visit to InGoa Academy, a News Channel

 The Department of English organized an educational visit to InGoa Academy, a news channel, on 9th January 2025 from 9:30 a.m. onwards. The purpose of this visit was to provide hands-on learning to the S.Y.B.A. VET students enrolled in the paper titled "News Reporting and Editing."

A group of 17 students actively participated in the visit. They were accompanied by Ms. Siddhi Sangle, Assistant Professor of English, and Ms. Vividha Agarwadekar, Assistant Professor of English.







Students learned about news gathering, different types of news and their types of news reporting, editing principles of editing and much more.  



Students learned about Tele Prompting and new reading and how to go about anchoring and skills required for  the same.

Stage play, titled ' No Flowers, No Wreaths .' at Goa University

 The Department of English organised a visit to Goa University to watch a stage play, titled ' No Flowers, No Wreaths ' for the students of SYBA English Major on 8th January 2025. The play aligns with the syllabus of the paper ' Diasporic Goan Literature '. The students were accompanied by Ms. Fabiola Rocha, Ms. Siddhi Sangle and Ms. Vividha Agarwadekar.



A theatrical performance 'No Flowers, No Wreaths: A Play in Three Acts' is being held by Mustard Seeds in collaboration with Goa University

The story is about Leopoldina, Salu’s elder sister and adoptive mother to Bostu. Salu is a batcar (landlord) who hides a secret from his family. Leopoldina gives away her lands to Salu and curses him by saying that the lands are extremely fertile, rich in ore, and that she exchanges a fertile land for his infertility.
 


Our students had a great time experiencing the live stage play at Goa university, the theatric experience with live performances, and rhyme and song had a great impact on our students, this play encouraged and motivated our students to participate as well as be a part of an audience for this kinds of stage play which are  performed on occasionally in different locations.  It evoked a sense of catharsis in our fellow students, the emotions this characters showed and played on the stage made them to get themselves involved in this kinds of  stage plays in near future.
